How Carma.la Makes Money

Straightforwardly: this site earns money through a few channels, and we’d rather explain them than bury them.

Where the money comes from

• Dealer/marketplace referrals — when you use a “see local pricing” or “find one near you” link from a vehicle page, we may earn a referral fee if that leads to a sale. This never affects which vehicles appear in a comparison or how they’re ranked.
• Insurance and financing referrals — links to get insurance quotes or check financing/loan rates may earn us a fee if you complete an application through them.
• Amazon Associates — accessory recommendations (dash cams, chargers, cargo organizers, etc.) on vehicle pages use Amazon affiliate links.
• Display advertising.

What this doesn’t affect

Which vehicles we include in a comparison, what we say about them, and which one we’d actually recommend for a given budget or use case. If a program isn’t approved and wired up yet, its link or button simply doesn’t appear — we don’t run placeholder links, and we don’t fabricate program participation we don’t actually have.

What we’re careful about

We source vehicle specs, pricing, and figures from manufacturer data and established automotive publications, and we cite where each figure came from. When a source doesn’t provide a clean, comparable number for something (this happens most often with hybrid torque figures, which don’t combine the way horsepower does), we say so rather than making one up.
